T-Bone Walker Blues Fest Sponsor Reception
LONGVIEW, TEXAS - The T-Bone Walker Blues Fest, in conjunction with the Longview Museum of Fine Art, is hosting a private reception for festival sponsors and event partners at the museum on Thursday evening, June 2.
The event, "Blue Dog and the Blues Party," is by invitation only and will kick off at 7:00 PM.
In addition to the ongoing retrospective exhibition of the "Blue Dog" art of New Orleans artist George Rodrigue, guests will have an opportunity to meet Wendy Rodrigue, wife of the late artist.
Live music will be provided by Shreveport blues artist Buddy Flett.
Heavy hors d'euvres will be catered by Tyler Street Bistro.
The T-Bone Walker Blues Fest is a two-day music festival featuring nationally known performers as well as regional and local groups. Held at Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center, the festival begins Friday, with doors opening at 4:00 PM.
Activities continue Saturday with a 5K "T-Bone Run" beginning at 7:30 AM, Patterson Nissan Junior Showcase at 10:00, the Car and Cycle Show opening at 2:00 PM, and the days first music acts taking the stages at 2:00 PM.
The festival is named for the iconic musician Aaron Thibeaux Walker, who was born in 1910 near Linden, Texas, was a transformational figure in blues and rock music development, and is a member of both the Blues Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
