Johnny & the Nightcrawlers
Johnny and the Nightcrawlers is a Texas bar band established in 1993 by long time friends and musical buddies John Simmons and Don Elbert. John and Don have played together for 20 years in various bands.
John has played harmonica for Ray Wiley Hubbard and many other lesser known Texas bands.
Joe Griffin joined the band in 2002. Joe has played with many of the Houston blues legends such as Texas Johnny Brown, Jerry Lightfoot, Pete Mays, and Joe "Guitar" Hughes.
The Nightcrawler's 2007 album "Off The Hook" started out as simply a demo recording made to promote bookings and was recorded live on one Saturday. After listening to the quality the band decided to add a few overdubs and tweak it a little to produce a professional quality recording.
Music fans find that the songs have a live feel and drive and great listening qualities.
The band produced a second live album in 2014 at Moore's Store in Ben Wheeler, Texas.
Current band members are: John Simmons, vocals, T.J. Hammersley, guitar, Joe Griffith, drums, and Ken Murray, bass guitar.
